Experience

I began my teaching career in Hattiesburg Public Schools in Hattiesburg, MS.  I taught 2nd grade for 2 years at Hawkins Elementary School.  I then spent two years working full time at The Center for Gifted Studies at The University of Southern Mississippi as a research assistant.  I returned to the classroom to teach 7th/8th grade gifted at Burger Middle School in Hattiesburg.  I relocated to Birmingham in 2004 and have been the enrichment teacher at South Shades Crest since that time.  In 2011, I began traveling one day a week to Brock's Gap Intermediate School, but am back at South Shades Crest full time.

Bio

I grew up in south Mississippi, but have been a resident of Alabama since 2004.  My husband, Danny, and I have two daughters. Alison was born in 2010 and Mallory was born in 2014. We also have a golden retriever/chow mix named Sam who we adopted from the Birmingham Humane Society.  In my spare time, I love to read and travel.  My entire family loves college sports, so we enjoy going to games.  I'm also an active member of the Birmingham Bulldogs, the Birmingham chapter of the Mississippi State University Alumni Association.
